More About Lizzy Ball, LCSW
I’m so pleased to get to share a little more about myself and my work with you!
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (IL no. 149.021255) who works with adults via individual therapy in an outpatient telehealth setting. My clinical specialties are PTSD/trauma, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), and working with LGBTQ adults. I also work with clients on depression, anxiety, attachment/family-of-origin issues, guilt/shame, relationships, mindfulness and self-compassion. I strive to provide a non-judgmental, oppression-aware, LGBTQ-affirming and polyamory- and kink-inclusive space.
I believe that the client-therapist alliance is a powerful setting for healing and knowledge of self, and that every person deserves the opportunity to create positive change in their life. I empower clients to build and discover new pathways by experimenting with the feedback loop between emotions, thoughts, and behaviors, and by re-examining past or present dynamics with new perspective.
Each session is tailored to the client(s), their immediate needs, and client-directed goals. I draw from several evidence-based modalities in which I am trained, including: Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT); Prolonged Exposure (PE); Trauma-Informed Guilt Reduction Therapy (TrIGR); Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP); Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT); and Psychodynamic Therapy.
Before seeing clients in independent private practice, I worked in group practice, employee assistance programs and community mental health. I earned my Master’s degree in Social Work from Texas State University in 2017, and became independently licensed as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in 2019.
When I’m not working, I enjoy time with family, friends, and pets; reading, cooking and baking; as well as biking and being outdoors and in nature.
